The news of Kryz.org. Please keep in mind, this is not a blog. I hate blogs.

It's been quite a while since I did anything with this site, but maybe it's fun to know I've been updating my galleries a bit. Remember: if you're a friend, there's also a guest login, which allows you to see a whole section of pictures from friends & parties that I took in the past. Sometimes people don't want to have their picture out there on the web just like that, so I put it behind a login. Want to have access? Just mail me! Some other little news: changed my job, bought an iPhone, my apartment is finally almost finished after 2 1/2 years of living here, but the wait is for a 40" flatscreen TV, a PlayStation 3 and a nice home cinema 5.1 surround speakerset. That should set me back a few bucks, but it should also make my movie-viewing experience so much better! |

I need your help! I am in dire need of a Linux based
machine that does a lot of stuff for me for my home network. It should

I've made my Travels gallery publically available since it was really annoying to give the whole world access all the time, and there are some nice pictures for everyone to view there anyway. Keep in mind that you cannot view the full sized pictures without being logged in, and that some pictures are hidden from users who are... well, basically not me (ooh, secretive, exciting isn't it?). Enjoy the images! |

A new gadget is mine once again! When I saw the release announcement for the new Pentax Optio S5n, I knew I had to have it. It is still as small, powerful and sexy as my "old" Optio S, but it packs a lot more features, and some of those I really missed in my Optio S. Since the price was quite reasonable even straight from release on, I was happy to get one right away. Pictures will follow in my galleries section, but please be patient, as it takes time before I feel images are good enough to be moved there. |

I've finally managed to put my digital photocollection online. Ofcourse, most will think: oh no, not another. And I know, it's evil, all those people showing their home made pictures with red-eyed dumb-looking friends, but well... that's the way that goes. Still I think I've managed to put a couple of nice pictures there. Please note: one needs a login to be able to see all albums. Without the login, only 8% of the images can be found. I have already passed out a guest login to most friends that I think should have access. Enjoy the pictures in the Kryz.org Galleries! |

I've changed hoster today. In the past couple of days you might have encountered some glitches with kryz.org not being reachable, but this has been fixed, and if everything goes well, you shouldn't have any problems anymore connecting to my website. Note: should anything not work anymore, please contact me so I can fix it! |

The war on terror, against Bin Laden and Hussein, has
tempted many to voice an opinion in different ways. One way can be found
through this
link, a short movie supporting Bush's war in Iraq. I thought the movie
lacked story and comment though, so I created a subtitle file. What do you do:

No gadget this time - I need your help! You all know O-zone - Dragostea Din Tei, right? This song is pretty funny, right? Cool. So go to this website, click on the little circle left of the word "Stem!" (vote), and vote for "haiduc" (= something like Robin Hood in the romanian language) as the most popular word of 2004 - I mean, the most popular word should come from the most popular summerhit, right? Right. Go now, clickedeeclick, and thanks! |

Once again it's time for a new gadget! I have now bought and installed an EPoX eX5 Mini Me, and moved my hardware (processor, memory, harddrive, graphics card) to this barebone. The MiniOS, for playing music (audio CD and MP3) is really cool, especially in combination with the LCM, and also much appreciated is the 4-in-1 card reader, for Secure Digital/MultiMedia Card , Compact Flash, Memory Stick and Smart Media cards, already present in the barebone. Everything is tightly packed in this tiny machine, but I will say more about the installation and experiences later on. Aside from that I also purchased a Plextor 708A DVD-/+RW drive for this Small Form Factor machine, and a Logitech Cordless Trackman Optical for my computer in the bedroom - regular mice don't really work well on a bedsheet surface. Stay tuned for more info! |

I've finally achieved what I wanted for a long time: my bedroom is now a multimediaroom. I have a PC running Linux with a DVD player in it hanging below my bed (my bed is raised about 6 ft, a two-person bed basically covering 3/4 of the tiny room it's in), connected to a 19" iiyama monitor which is on a TV-arm, on the far end of my bed. For sounds, I have an old Pioneer tuner/amplifier hanging above my head, with a CD player on top of it. Ofcourse, the PC is connected to this system as well. Then, to finish up, two Bose Acoustimass 3 tweeters are aimed directly at the bed, and the subwoofer is standing underneath the bed. If you're looking for me: I'm living in my bed for the next few weeks. |

I've changed the menu item "Sony Vaio C1" to "Toys 4 Boys", because I thought it would make the setup of the site a bit more logical, and the new Pentax Optio S and Mpio FL100 pages, which I created today, would better fit in this context. The Mpio MP3 player is my newest toy by the way; make sure you check it out, it's definitely a cool gadget! |

Just finished updating a little bit on the site again. This time it's some graphics update on installing the Sapphire ATi Radeon 9800 Pro in Linux. You can find it on the Linux page (last paragraphs), so those who have a videoadapter like that can find out there how to get it to work properly. New kernelconfig and XF86Config-4 (obviously) can be found there as well. |

I've written just a little bit of extra info on my website! I know, bow down to me. Anyway, it's just some Procmail info on my Linux page (last paragraphs), maybe it can help you do what you always wanted to do with your e-mail. Use it to your advantage. |

I know, it's been rather silent here for a while. But, now that I'm back from South Africa, I will see if I can put some effort into the pages again. Be sure to check in on updates! |

It's here, finally! My mountainbike has arrived, and it's gorgeous! Well, never mind the colours, those might be a bit out of date, but other than that, I really like it. For more info, just see this page. |

I've just finished cleaning up all my computer hardware and
other stuff, and I have some old hardware lying around which really needs to
go. I've packed it up nicely in a few boxes and written down the specs of all
the stuff I have left over. A list:
Should you be interested in the full list of things (I'm not selling any of the items seperately) for a reasonable price (start bidding at 200 euro's), and are you able to pick it up from a nice little city in the middle of the Netherlands, please let me know. |

I haven't written anything here for a few weeks, because I've
been quite busy. In the meantime, so has my website, apparently. I can proudly
say that my website reached the 20.000 visits a few days back. The last 10.000
visits were generated in the past four months, so I can say that you, my
visitors, have been keeping the site alive. A few statistics:
Also interesting: here you can see all the different google domains (i.e. countries) which have referred to my website. Funny to see people from all over the world visit this place. Thanks all for enjoying my site. |

I bought myself a new PC (well, parts) a little over a week ago, so the machine has been upgraded, see here for the details. Also, I bought a digital camera (Pentax Optio S), this is really an awesome little device. It really fits well with the Vaio: extremely small but very potent. I might dedicate a small corner of this website to the cam in a while. |

Yesterday (the 4th of August) we had two poweroutages of a few hours. My main computer did not appreciate this, and it's not booting. Odd thing is that it starts up, fans start blowing (and rattling, man that sounds bad), the machine hesitates and shuts down. Strange is also that this takes about three seconds max. I figured it would be the powersupply, but I just replaced it and had the exact same issue. I'm not sure where the problem is now, but after only three seconds, I can't imagine the problem to be anywhere else then the mainboard, or maybe the processor, but the latter seems highly unlikely. So, the anounced work on my website will be on hold a bit, I don't think I'll be doing that from my laptop. So what to do now... I guess I will just have to go out and buy myself a new PC. Or some parts at least. |

My previous domain registration contact received snail-mail concerning the registration expiration of kryz.org (see the letter here). This is a scam, and a totally unacceptable way of doing business. Others have gotten the same from this company (Domain Registry of America, I'm not linking to their site for obvious reasons), but make sure that if they mail you, you don't respond to it or accept their offer. [When I first posted this, I stated it was a fax, but obviously with it being colour that wasn't possible. ;-) The mistake came from the fact that my previous registration contact was going to fax it] |

I just added htxs.html, a very brief tutorial on HTAccess, which provides information on two simple things: Access Control and Custom Error pages. |

At the moment, I'm working on some new content and a bit of a change of look (nothing dramatic I can tell you), so if this site appears weird or highly hard to read for you, please let me know. If you do, let me know relevant information (lke which browser and resolution you are running). If there's any info you thought you would find on this site, but actually didn't, let me know as well, I will see if I can update it. |

I reported earlier today that Kryz.org was not 100% available. The hosting provider notified us that the routing problems, as well as the hacking and DDoS issues have been resolved. During the week they will have some extra maintenance to solve the issues more permanently. |

My website is not 100% available once again. Some script kiddies on an IRC server started DDoS-ing, and this IRC server was sadly located at the colocation where this site is hosted. I'm expecting problems throughout today, but it might last until friday. This is when our colocator will have fixed some of the network trouble they're experiencing (router issues). My apologies for the inconvenience. |

It's finally here... My Dell 2000FP 20.1" Flat Panel LCD Monitor! It's huge, clear, 1600x1200 and mine! Okay, so sadly the foot is somewhat broken, so that needs to be fixed, but I don't care, this thing is amazing! Click here for specs. |

A website is linking to mine, with the word "OUT" on it. Very interesting. I wonder whether this has anything to do with me getting the first hits on Google when searching for Kryz, but it might not have anything to do with it. Actually, when I look at it, it just seems like the OUT and the link to my website have nothing to do with eachother. Still, see my little mailconversation with a fan of that other website here. It's amusing. |
| July 09, 2003 23:15 CET |
By the way, Kryz.org is on the rise! When searching Google for kryz, the first two hits are this site. Also, searching for C1MHP (the type of Vaio I own, click the link in the Sony Vaio C1 menu to see) returns Kryz.org as the first result. I'm quite pleased with that. ;-) |

Today I was bored, so I created a news page. Not to tell my extremely interesting stories, but just to give all the nonsense messages I post on the front page a space after they've lost their weight. Hope you like it. |

Well, so, after about 9 days of being offline, Kryz.org
is finally back up again. The problem was a combination of things: my
hosting provider was going to move from upstream provider, but all the
domainnames, including kryz.org, were registered through the old upstream
provider. I asked the hosters to move the domain for me, and they said
they would. When I was in the USA, a few weeks back, they sent an e-mail
saying they couldn't do it (only after inquiry by me, by the way). So I
had to transfer by myself. For which I had about 4 days. And it took
about 11 days. The old registrar was sadly not willing to change DNS
details for me, so the domain was fine, but just pointing towards the
wrong server all the time. Very frustrating. Last thursday, the domain
finally moved. The domain is now fully active once again. All domain servers seem to have picked up on the changes, and if there are any who didn't, this shouldn't take long anymore. I thank you all for your patience, and am happy to be able to welcome everyone back, finally. |

This past year, this site totalled over 10,000 visits (actually, since the first six months were so slow, there were over 10,000 visits in the past six months alone), coming from 12,558 different IP addresses (searchbots don't count as visits ofcourse), generating a total bandwidth use of 7.17 GB, and topping 300,000 hits. I think that's pretty cool for a simple website like this. Thank you all for enjoying my site. |
